Danielle Pinney is a Freelance Contemporary Dancer and Writer, based in Brooklyn, NY. She was named an Edward Villella Fellow (2019)¹ and Thomas J. Watson Fellow (2022-23)². More recently, Danielle has performed in Jason Derulo’s “Glad U Came” music video, filmed in Bali, Indonesia, in Rai Linea Verde’s TV special on Pizzica Dance, filmed in Bari, Italy, and in a new Maia Reficco music video, still in production. She is also pursuing a part-time MSt in Creative Writing at the University of Cambridge.
Danielle is the Fall Artist-in-Residence at Bryn Du Mansion in Granville, Ohio. In residency, she will conduct research at the intersection of contemporary dance and poetry to understand how one’s surroundings impact and inspire new modalities of movement.
Awarded fully-funded Aerial Dance Training in Aerial Split Silks and Hoop.
Conducted independent movement-based anthropological research on storytelling in traditional dance outside the U.S. for 13 consecutive months. Between July 2022 and August 2023, Danielle explored how communities come together to tell shared narratives through their time-honored movement practices across Spain, Morocco, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia.
